(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) has named Track 7 Brewing Company as the 7th Assembly District’s Small Business of the Year. Founded in 2011 by Jeanna and Ryan Graham and Becca and Geoff Scott, these families established Track 7 Brewing Company as an outlet for creative expression through unique and artisanal beers.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – The California State Assembly has approved AB 284 by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento), which would to create an independent review unit within the California Department of Justice to investigate officer-involved shootings. The measure was approved on a vote of 41 to 23.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – The California State Assembly has approved AB 406 by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento), which would prohibit for-profit corporations from managing and operating charter schools in the state. The measure was approved on a 48 to 23 vote.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D - Sacramento) and the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance (Committee) today took final action towards completion of the 2017-18 Budget Act by making historic investments in early education, K-12 education and higher education that will help close California’s achievement gap, build a 21st century workforce and help more California students enroll in the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) and community college systems.

(SACRAMENTO) – The California State Assembly today approved AB 424 by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D- Sacramento), which will update California’s Gun Free School Zones law to make schools truly gun free. The measure was approved on a vote of 43-23.

(SACRAMENTO) – Building upon California’s efforts to welcome and successfully integrate refugees from around the world, the California State Assembly today approved the “California Welcomes Refugees” legislative package by Assemblymembers Kevin McCarty (D- Sacramento), Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D – San Diego) and Adrin Nazarian (D- Sherman Oaks), which will help refugees access educational and employment resources necessary to become integrated and productive members of the state.

SACRAMENTO - Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D- Sacramento) and the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) will kick off Mother’s Day weekend by highlighting the work of SFBFS’s Parent Education Program and announcing the results of McCarty’s Mother’s Day donation drive. The event will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 11:00 AM at the SFBFS offices in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento.
