SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) distributed 300 Thanksgiving dinners to the Sacramento community for the District 7 annual Operation Gobble event on Friday, November 19, 2021.
Every year Assemblymember McCarty, in conjunction with American Water, provides Thanksgiving meals for local Sacramento families in need. This year, the Assemblymember and his team assembled meals consisting of all of the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and distributed them to 5 local housing communities for low-income residents.
Families received a bag filled with foods such as green beans, cream of mushroom soup, fried onions, instant potatoes and gravy packets. A $20 gift card to Raley’s was also included for families to purchase turkeys. This year’s event was made possible through sponsorships and donations from several local organizations including American Water, Raley’s, Kaiser Permanente, AT&T, and Safe Credit Union.
Assemblymember McCarty provided meals to residents living in the following communities:
- Mutual Housing at Dixieanne & Victory
- West Gateway Place Apartments
- Marina Vista
- Adler Grove
- Mutual Housing on the Greenway
“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect, give thanks, and give back. Not every family has the resources to purchase a Thanksgiving meal,” said Assemblymember Kevin McCarty. “My hope is that this is one less thing families will have to worry about and can spend this time enjoying the holiday.”
